Final preseason game tonight
Once again, no preseason tailgate parties have been scheduled for this season. We're looking forward to seeing you Sunday, September 16 at noon in Tailgate Lot 1 of the Eastern Market for the Lions home opener against the Vikings.

Hide From Cleo, Come See Theo
The season's first tailgate is always a special time, but this season is special. Not only do we have Detroit Music Award nominees Hide From Cleo rocking the party, we also have a very special treat for everyone.
Forward down the field
We're proud to welcome the mighty voice of the Lions fight song, Theo "Gridiron" Spight, to the party. He's the guy in the hard hat you see singing "Gridiron Heroes" after every Lions score at Ford Field.
Theo will take the stage at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 16 to lead us in singing our beloved fight song at the top of our beer fueled lungs. Join us at the tailgate and raise your glasses and voices to start the 2007 Lions football season in proper fashion, and then go watch the Lions knock the lipstick off those girly-girl Vikings.
Can't remember the lyrics?
We've got just the thing for you. An original DetroitTailgate.com designed t-shirt featuring the lyrics to "Gridiron Heroes" on the back. I guess that won't help you remember them, but the person behind you will have no excuse for not singing along. Or, just wear it backwards and look down.

Expanding the Family

New tailgating machine
We're very happy to announce that the family now has a new home. This 1972 Travco motor home is currently being morphed and modified into the mobile command center for DetroitTailgate.com. Keep an eye out for this beast in a parking lot near you. More photos to come.

Preseason Kicks Off
Tonight the Lions take on the Bengals in their first preseason game of 2007. Since both preseason games are on a Thursday night, we are not hosting any tailgates until the regular season. If you're hosting preseason tailgates, send us your photos and stories. We'd love to post them on the site.

Sorry, but we focus strictly on the tailgating scene here at DetroitTailgate.com. Too many seasons of empty promises and frustration has taken its' toll on us weary fans. We can't get enough of Hide From Cleo
The video of Hide From Cleo at our tailgate has been nominated for Outstanding Video/Limited Budget category in the Detroit Music Awards. Musicians, managers, booking agents, media representatives, club management, sound technicians and other music industry professionals are all eligible to vote. Chef Leon's "Great Meals: Tailgating"
I got a phone call the other day saying, "Dude, you're on my freaking TV! Right Now!" I rushed to push RECORD on the VCR and this little clip here is all I captured. I'm sure there's more and we'll keep checking back to the Community Media Network's site to see if and when this episode, called "Great Meals: Tailgating," runs again.

Amazing, given all the money you could spend to make a website for a professional sports team and amateur fan pages are better... Well, the 2006 season has been archived. If you want to look back at the news of '06, click the "2006 Archive" button in the upper left column. The entire season is there.
Hide From Cleo
You'll notice that we've been heavily promoting our friends, Hide From Cleo. They send their thanks to the Detroit Tailgaters for the support you showed at their Memphis Smoke show. They're currently entered in the CMT Music Madness video contest. Click here and vote for their video "Rosarito." With your help they will win a trip to record a live performance for CMT.
You'll also be happy to read that Hide From Cleo has agreed to play another tailgate party in '07. HFC rules. Go to their website and buy their CDs.
New Bands to Be Announced
Speaking of live tailgate performances, we're currently ironing-out the details to have two more bands play next season. We're excited for the opportunity to give some much deserved recognition to local Detroit talent and they'll get the royal treatment here at Detroit Tailgate just like Hide From Cleo.
Once the 2007 Lions schedule has been released, we'll be able to lock-in the performance dates and unveil the identities of these talented bands.
